Continuing our rundown of new Makita models coming in Autumn 2014, we introduce you to the DTW281 Cordless Impact Wrench, The DLX2040MJ and DLX2040TJ 2 piece kits and the DLX6017 6 piece cordless kit.
Makita DLX2050MJ and DLX2040TJ 2 Piece Kits
Following on from the release of the DHP481 (read more in part 1) Makita have wasted no time in creating a new brushless impact driver and combi drill kit. This time featuring their current top of the range brushless impact driver the DTD129 (see more here), and the forthcoming top of the range brushless heavy duty combi drill the DHP481.
As far as spec goes the tools in this kit offers:

This ‘best of the best’ kit will include the DTD129Z tool body, the DHP481Z tool body the DC18RC fast charger, a Type 3 MakPac carry case and 2x Lithium-ion batteries.
This is falling in line with not only the launch of the DHP481 combi drill but also Makita’s new 5ah Battery the BL1850, so it will of course be available with either 4ah batteries, or the new 5Ah batteries:

DTW281 Cordless Brushless Impact Wrench
Looking over the spec of this and I’m pretty impressed. The DTW281 is yet another addition to Makita’s impressive 18v li-ion tool range, and yet again it is another tool type benefiting from the new brushless motors.
Over the last couple of years brands have been rolling out brushless motors (which you can find more info about here) in many of their Drills and Drivers. Earlier in 2014 Makita brought out a couple of new Brushless Cordless Jigsaws, and now they’ve added another string to their bow with this, a brushless impact wrench.
This new addition is designed to overhaul the DTW251 impact wrench as the spec is updated and enhanced.
The DTW281 will offer:
Battery Voltage – 18v
Max output -280w
Shank – ½” Square
Bolt – M10 – M20
High Strength Bolt – M10 – M16
Max Impacts Per Min – 3500
No Load Speed – 2800rpm
Max Torque – 280Nm

Makita DLX6017 6 Piece Tool Kit
Not so revolutionary this one, but a handy addition nonetheless. The DLX6017 is a 6 piece cordless tool kit, which is replacing the very popular DK1829. It offers a good range of popular models from the 18v LXT range:
