What are Milwaukee High Output Batteries?

Simply put, Milwaukee’s High Output batteries deliver up to 50% more power when compared to other batteries within the range. A combination of exclusive technology, improved electronics, better cell density and the resultant power output of the batteries, make the High Output range an incredible sought after accessory.

For Milwaukee M18 Fuel Power tools, they are the perfect source of power to maximise the strength, power and working time of your tool.

Quick Background on Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Team Red, are by far and away one of the most popular power tool brands in the world. And it’s not difficult to see why.

If you’ve ever wondered if Milwaukee High Output batteries are worth it, then the answer is an emphatic, yes!

With an extensive range of power toolshand tools, accessories, and storage such as packout, Milwaukee have established themselves over the years as one of the most reliable tool brands to invest in. Hardly surprising that they are one of the ‘go-to’ companies for the US government, professional traders and enthusiast DIYers around the globe.

As an innovator, they have developed unique tools at the time that have become the benchmark for the other brands such as a right angled drill and reciprocating saw. They have developed a number of unique power tool ranges, no more so than the M12 and M18 cordless tool range.

Regardless of brand though, all power tools require power – hence the name. With the M12 range, they use the 12V range of batteries. However, with the M18 range, users have a choice of two battery ranges: the standard RedLithium batteries, and now, the High Output range.

Here’s an extended history for those interested.

What is the difference between High Output and RedLithium?

Before exploring the High Output range, it’s worth a quick reminder why the Milwaukee RedLithium batteries really do stand out against other branded batteries…

Milwaukee’s exclusive RedLithium battery range, according to them, deliver up to 40% more runtime, 20% more power and up to 50% more recharges than conventional lithium-ion batteries. They also claim to deliver the best in class performance whilst being able to operate in temperatures as low as -20°C as well as maintaining a cooler temperature when in use.

RedLithium batteries include large welding tabs which reduces the electrical resistance thereby keeping the battery cooler and not overheating. Yet despite that, Milwaukee include their proprietary REDLINK PLUS technology with their battery ranges to ensure that the battery doesn’t overheat when placed under load or duress.

This gives Milwaukee batteries an edge over other brands, especially when you consider that most lithium-ion batteries don’t work below -6°C – that point alone brings their battery range to the top of the list when looking for versatility.
