Milwaukee has released a revolutionary new SDS+ drill that is designed for overhead drilling and dust extraction at the same time. Whenever a new power tool is launched, it’s often described as a ‘game-changer’ or ‘revolutionary’. In the case of the Milwaukee M18 FHAFOH16 18V FUEL Brushless SDS+ Drill with Built-In Dust Extraction, this description is accurate.
Unlike other drills, the M18 FUEL Brushless SDS+ comes ready to use right out of the box – simply add the battery, attach the drill bit, and you’re good to go.
How does the Dust Extraction work?
When using any drill, dust is almost always produced, especially when drilling into concrete, which can create hazardous dust particles.
This drill addresses that issue right from the start. It has a shroud that covers the length of the drill bit up to the surface of your material. As you start drilling, any dust that is generated is immediately vacuumed along the shroud and into the dust collection box.
What’s unique about this drill is that it includes a HEPA filter that can remove up to 99.97% of dust particles larger than 0.3 micrometres. The filter starts working as soon as you begin drilling and will power down two seconds after you release the drill trigger, ensuring that all excess dust is collected. This feature prevents dust from getting into your eyes or mouth while working on overhead projects.
Overhead Working with the NEW Milwaukee M18 SDS+ Drill
The immediate result is that, especially when working on overhead projects, dust is prevented from blocking your view or getting into your mouth, nose, or eyes. But that’s not all.
The unique design of the drill also supports overhead working. The lightweight design incorporates an auxiliary side handle that keeps your arm rotated inwards, resulting in less strain. Furthermore, the lower handle placement will keep the drill level with your shoulders, preventing over-reaching.
For improved versatility, this handle can be inserted on the left or the right of the tool and collapsed for easy storage. The M18 FHAFOH16 is also equipped with an Anti-Vibration system (AVS) which minimizes vibration and further reduces the effects of fatigue.
Protection & TEchnology
The integrated dust extractor is equipped with the AUTOPULSE™ Filter Cleaning Mechanism, which automatically cleans the dust extractor after each use. It is also designed with HEPA filters that remove up to 99.97% of dust particles larger than 0.3 micrometres.
The AUTOSTOP Kickback control enhances operator safety by preventing over-rotation in a bind-up scenario.
The drill features Milwaukee’s ONE-KEY technology, providing personalization and tool-tracking capabilities. Using the ONE-KEY app, you can select between default and low sensitivity settings for the AUTOSTOP™ feature, and manage tool tracking.
The POWERSTATE Brushless motor helps to maintain the tool and ensures a longer operational life. It also includes REDLITHIUM Battery packs, which offer exceptional power for longer durations, and REDLINK PLUS overload protection to maximize power as needed.
